Looking Forward with Optimism

HFA News

It is hard to believe we are wrapping up this unprecedented year. Our worlds have been rocked and our emotions have been tested. But with all the challenges we have faced, we’ve learned one thing for sure, people are resilient and when we come together, anything is possible. As 2020 ends, everyone at Hoover Financial Advisors sends prayers and hopeful thoughts to the many families who have suffered loss this year.

We look forward to the months ahead with optimism. Two vaccines are finally being distributed and administered, with much more progress to come. The hopes of sharing joy with family and friends will once again be possible. We all anticipate those days with great appreciation.

One of the first items we look forward to doing is scheduling an Open House Celebration to introduce our new office. We are eager to show everyone, including employees currently working from home, our updated space. Situated in a prime location, the new headquarters feature 8,500 square feet designed as a collaborative, cohesive team environment. The new HFA office, with its modern appeal, includes 11 private offices, 17 workstations, four conference rooms and a huddle room for employees.

We wanted to take you on the journey of building out the space, along with sharing a sneak peak of the new look. Here is a brief video to give you insight on the transformation:

In concert with the relocation, we launched a new look to match. A contemporary logo symbolizes the evolution of the company. A bold highway to the future led by HFA replaces our original 1872 Gibson’s Covered Bridge. The image is solid 21st century, yet its strong message remains the same.

Our pride was not limited to moving and planning this year. In the summer, we were proud to offer our intern, David Lynch, a full-time position within the financial planning team after he graduated from St. Joseph’s University. Since then, David has successfully passed the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) exam, which was a big accomplishment to start out his career. We look forward to seeing him grow in his role with the HFA team.

HFA also welcomed Stephen Gibson this summer as Chief Investment Officer. Steve’s trailblazing involvement with investment products dates to the early 1980s. He developed the first tax-managed stock mutual fund, introduced the China closed end fund and was among the initial portfolio management professionals to work with asset allocation funds. His investment team leadership includes mutual funds, hedge funds, UITs, variable annuities and ETFs.

The HFA team adopted to the work from home environment without missing a beat. Navigating this situation was a journey we all took on together – but the strength of our team was tested, and everyone rose to the challenge. We also invested in new technology this year, which was extremely helpful given the situation. By utilizing video and Zoom platforms, we were able to continue to provide the same seamless quality service clients expect from us.

HFA was named to the Financial Times 300 Top Registered Investment Advisors (RIA) for the fourth time. Pete Hoover was also selected to the Forbes Best in State Wealth Advisor list. But the honor that thrills us the most, was being selected by Philadelphia Business Journal to appear on its 2020 Best Places to Work list. HFA is one of 30 companies on the Small business category. All of us always felt we worked at one of the best places in the region, and to have an esteemed publication agree is both exciting and heartwarming.

Generosity skyrocketed this year. Our annual Funds for Food campaign to benefit Chester County Food Bank exceeded our goal beyond expectations. We had hoped to raise $25,000. With the help of kindness and desire to give back, we more than doubled that figure. We gave the food bank $57,000 in 2020. We thank all of you who donated. HFA also adopted two families this holiday season, each with two children. HFA bought gifts for all the children and sent gift cards to their parents for their holiday meal.  Pete also thoroughly enjoyed his first year as a member of Paoli Hospital’s Foundation Board of Trustees.

2020 has been a year unlike any other. Everyone has been affected in one way or another by the pandemic. HFA has been blessed with a productive year, despite many obstacles that were overcome along the way. Whether your new year celebrations will be virtual or in person – as we move into 2021, we wish you hope, peace, connections, health, happiness and joy. Thank you for your support and loyalty to HFA.  We look forward, with much optimism, as we to continue to service you and your families in 2021.  Happy new year.
