HFA at the Chester County Food Bank

On June 12th, the HFA staff had the privilege of working at the Chester County Food Bank at its wonderful new location on Pennsylvania Drive in Exton.  Our staff split into two shifts and spent the day in the kitchen helping to process and repackage produce donated to the Food Bank.  We repackaged several different kinds of vegetables including onions, lettuce, beets, celery, and cabbage.

The Chester County Food Bank is a non-profit organization that collects, grows, purchases, processes, stores and distributes food to those who serve the hungry of Chester County, PA. It is the central location for local agencies, including food cupboards, meal sites and social service organization serving individuals in need.

HFA strongly supports the Food Bank and greatly values the service it provides to the Chester County area. There are more than 70,000 hungry people in Chester County and their needs are growing at a critical rate. Since 2009, the Food Bank has increased its distribution by over 119 percent and it currently provides the equivalent of 1.7 million meals. Working together to help this exceptional nonprofit organization was very special for HFA. We sometimes forget how fortunate we are. We look forward to your participation in a few months when we kick off our annual Fall Funds for Food drive. Please watch for our letter.

In the meantime, here are a few pictures from our volunteer service day!
